Before the academic programs are deployed to serve the student and community needs, the hiring of several new faculties, many of whom are not currently available in the Sool, Sanaag, Hawd and Nugaal regions of Somalia will be necessary. Initially, our response to initial enrollment demand has to be based on the number of students available. Thus, it is imperative that we hire a number of full-time faculties at premium to ensure the highest level of quality instruction. The university will average approximately ten percent growth per year in student intake, which should result in an equivalent increase in full-time faculty positions needed. Highly specialized in Information Technology education, Accounting, and business programs will require equally specialized faculty hires. In particular, the increasing demands for the use of technology in the classroom will necessitate the hiring of professional staff with advanced computer and programming skills. Programs such as health science and nursing will need be academically oriented faculty with expertise in the health care delivery systems, and, likewise, the teacher education will require a faculty whose expertise is in teaching methods, child development, and etc. Further, the opening of the new NU Library in academic 2005-2006 will require 2 new hires to properly staff all of the various service areas in the Library.

In the process of developing a sound academic plan for the university, it is easy to overlook the need for support staff required to deliver programs properly. In addition to essential faculty and staff, there is a need for professional, non-teaching staff to provide services that are fundamental to certain programs. One of the best examples is in the area of computer technicians and programmers. As the University adopts the use of computers in the classroom, professional support staff is needed in such areas as instructional technology, Web design, computer software support, computer networks, and user support. Additional staff secretaries are needed in selected individual departments.
